Why go
Tiankengs are the largest natural pits in karst country — collapsed caves whose ceilings fell in. Hou'er's is about 200 metres deep, and the park uses the whole vertical metreage: cables stretched rim to rim, ladders bolted to the walls, and platforms hanging over open air.
You don't have to do everything. Many visitors ride the zipline, walk the rim trail, then watch others swing. But if you came for the adrenaline, the combo ticket is the honest way to spend a day.

Practical tips
Wear closed shoes and skip loose jewellery. There are real fitness requirements on the via ferrata and highline — staff assess each guest at check-in. Afternoon thunderstorms in summer can pause the activities; keep the morning slot for reliability.

Back in Guiyang, Qingyan Ancient Town is a stone-walled Ming town worth an afternoon. For a bigger trip, Huangguoshu waterfall and the karst of Anshun sit 2–3h away.
